Meet the Changemaker

Going to School (GTS ) is an award winning, creative not-for-profit education trust that creates design-driven stories to empower all children with the skills they need to solve poverty, unemployment, and inequality through its 4 flagship programs: Be!Schools, Be!Fund, Financial Skills Radio and Children’s Scrappy News
Achievements:
  • Be!Schools launched in 841 Government schools in Bihar for grade 9 students across 9  districts.
  • MoU with the Government of Bihar signed for 5 years
  • Be!Schools expanded to 1159 government schools (across 12 districts) in Bihar and 72 private schools in Jharkhand,Chhattisgarh & West Bengal.
  • Engaged with IDInsight to conduct RCT s to measure impact of Be!Schools programin Grades 8&9 students in government schools in West Champaran District supported by the MacArthur Foundation and Human Dignity Foundation.

  • Going to School in India:‘Skipping Stones Honor Award,2004;Notable Social Studies Trade Book for Young People,2004; United States Board on Books for Young People and Children's Book Council Outstanding International Book,2004
  • Be!Movies and Girl Stars: Facilitated at the Los Angeles International Children's Film Festival (2006), Big Bear Lake International Film Festival (2006), Kids First Film Festival California (2007), Chicago International Children's Film Festival (2007), Colorado Environmental Film Festival (2007)

Meet the Leader

Satyam has previously worked with the ASER Centre - the research and assessment arm of Pratham - and managed a human development study and ASER surveys in multiple states in India.
At Going to School, he oversees the education of children studying in public schools in India and ensure that they learn the entrepreneurial skills and values which will help them succeed in life.
